Duration of Lessons
Holidays
Lessons runs from September to the
first week in June.
First Term - September - December
Second Term - January - to early June
Registration for the year can happen at any time.
Lessons are not scheduled on Holidays or during the Christmas and March Breaks. You are not charged during these times.
Missed Lessons
You have 24 Hours before your Lesson time to cancel in order to receive a CREDIT.
Less than 24 Hour notice:
Any cancellation, no show, or failed attempt to reschedule with less than 24 Hour notice does NOT qualify for a credit and there are no refunds.
Make-Up Week
There is only ONE Make-Up week per Term.
First Term's Make-Up Week is the third week in December.
Second Term's Make-Up Week is June 8th - 14th 2023
What Qualifies For A Make-Up Lesson?
A Make-Up Lesson Is To Be Completed By The End Of The Term In Which The Missed Lesson Occurred.
A Lesson that received a Credit.
If less than 24 Hour notice was provided, provisions of a make-up lesson will done at the discretion of the teacher and only with an acceptable reason from the client (e.g. medical/family emergency, student is sick or household member has Covid).
i.e.
If you miss the scheduled make-up lesson in the First Term, the teacher has no obligation to continue to make-up the lesson during the Second Term. If a credit was used for the make-up lesson and the lesson is missed or cancelled on the day, you will not be re-credited.
P.A. Days
Lessons still take place on P.A. Days.
Snow Days
There are STILL Lessons.
I will send an email to find out who is making it to their lesson.
There are NO CREDITS on Snow Days, but the student will have the option to makeup the lesson at a mutually convenient time or during the Make-Up week.
In the event I cancel on a Snow Day; the lesson will only then be credited.
Cancelling All Lessons
There is a 2 WEEK CANCELLATION POLICY i.e. you have two more lessons after giving notice. Lessons are billed whether you attend them or not.
Unpaid Invoices
A late payment fee will apply after the 15th of the month. If payment is not receive before the 1st of the new month, I have the right to discontinue future lessons until the bill is payed. After two weeks into the new month, your time slot will be fortified if balance still has not been paid. You will still owe for the month of lessons that you received.
Remaining Credits
Monthly Payments:
Any remaining credits at the end of the year will be applied to the following year (September's Invoice). If you do not return, your credit(s) will returned to you via e-transfer.
Term or Whole Year Payments:
As you were provided with a Discount; the remaining balance will be returned via e-transfer by the end of June.
Suspended Lessons
In the event In-Person Lessons have to be put on hold i.e. Covid lockdown; students can have Online Lessons OR wait to see if In-Person Lessons are able to resume before the end of the year.
If you do not inform me that you will have Online Lessons, I automatically suspend your Lesson for the rest of the year. Monthly Invoices will not be sent out. If you paid in advance; you will receive a credit for each Lesson that is missed. Your remaining balance will be returned to you by the end of June.
The Difference Between SUSPENDED LESSONS and CANCELLING ALL LESSONS
Suspended Lessons
Cancelling All Lessons
You are NOT giving up your spot (i.e. you are waiting to see if In-Person Lessons will resume)
You are ARE giving up your spot.
You are not taking taking the alternative of Online Lessons and you do not want to see if In-Person Lessons will resume before the end of the Lesson year. This means the "Cancelling All Lesson" Policy will apply. I.E. two weeks notice and lessons are billed whether you attend them (Online) or not.
The reasons for this: There is a Waiting Lists for Lessons. If you cancel and In-Person Lessons resume before the end of the year; you will no longer have a spot.
Music Lesson Policies
Temiskaming Festival of Music
Depending on the schedule, lessons may or may not be scheduled during the week when the Piano and Voice classes are taking place in the Temiskaming Festival of Music. This applies whether you are in the Festival or not. (You are not charged or may receive a credit during this week)
Accompanist For Vocal Students In The Festival
If you decide to not have me as your accompanist, you are responsible for scheduling time with your accompanist and paying their fees. My rate as an accompanist is $20.00/performance. Additional rehearsals outside your regular lesson time is $10.00/half hour. If there are rehearsals scheduled outside your regular lesson time: I will use credits / make-up lessons before charging $10.00/half hour.
